    immune system
    Cherrigirl22 asked:

I just want to know how to get my immune system strong again after I finished a course of antibiotics. By the way, I am also taking probiotics with the antibiotics I am on. So, how do you strengthen the immune system after you are done with a short-term course of antibiotics?

Make sure you are eating a well balanced diet (Increase your fruits and veggies the more colorful the better), are well hydrated with water, get plenty of rest, and take a multivitamin daily. Vit. C is well known for boosting immunity however I have not read any conclusive proof that it increases immunity. It does aid in tissue repair though among other things like zinc, protein and Iron so it won’t hurt to take a little extra Vit. C. I would suggest you try to limit any stress in your life if possible. Exercise everyday for 30 minutes if you feel up to it. You may also want to eat some yogurt to prevent yeast infection because that is a common side effect after antibiotics. Try to keep that area dry to prevent growth and avoid tight clothing. Sorry if that was a bit too much info., but I figured that is something you should be aware of as well.

Your first course after you are finished with the antibiotics would be to get a good Probiotic complex… but you really should wait until the antibiotics are finished (unless it’s an antibiotic that goes over a few months time or something). The reason you should wait is that the antibiotics will kill most of the Probiotics before they can do any good and that activity the antibiotics used to kill the antibiotics will be that much less activity to take care of the virus/illness it’s trying to fight.
However, if you’re taking a long-term antibiotic, then it’s the lesser of two evils to have some probiotics than no probiotics. In that case, it’s best to take the antibiotic and probiotic as far apart as possible.

As far as boosting your immune system in general, make sure you have a healthy diet (enough protein, carbs, fruits/veggies, etc), get enough sleep every night, and some exercise would be an extra boost. In addition, there are several natural products that help to boost the immune system. The most popular ones would be Colostrum, Mushrooms (Maitake, Shiitake, and Reishi), IP-6 (Inositol Hexaphosphate), Beta Glucans, Elderberry, Echinacea (should be taken short-term only), and any antioxidants.

Lest anyone froget to mention it…Garlic has very strong anti oxident and anti inflammatory properties…Another good herbal is Cayenne Pepper which has many of the same properties. Driking a bit of Red Wine and eating some Dark Chocolate will help some too. GOOD LUCK!

The easiest and fastest way is immediately begin taking sea kelp capsules. (unless you are allergic to Iodine) The thyroid gland is a major factor in the immune system ( T cell production). Iodine that’s found in sea kelp (about 2 capsules (750gm) daily) will be a major factor in restoring your immunity. Or start eating lots of Shell fish.

Were these prescribed by a doctor? It can be dangerous to take antibiotics when you dont need them..

Please do some research about what you are doing to your body.. Antibiotics help fight infection.. If you take it when you dont need it, it might not work when you do need it.. Probiotics are not something to “balance” your system after antibiotics…

One of these days you people are going to give someone who has a serious condition some crappy advise and possibly be the cause of death!

Antibiotics don’t suppress your immune system.

I used to have very weak immune system and a friend recommended me to try Beta Glucan and so far it works great for me :)
I feel so much better now. Ask your doctor and see it’s suitable for you too.

You need to help your body to build up your immune system. The breathing exercises - pranayam is a holistic approach creating extra oxygen supply in the body and will slowly help with the health problem.Do the pranayam to see the benefits.Build up your timing slowly and after two weeks at the suggested duration you will start to notice benefits.

Bhastrika - Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose.Duration upto 5 minutes.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for upto 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Anulom Vilom - Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
      Duration : 5 to 10 times
      —-
Only by doing you will benefit and will feel good that you can do something to help the body.Copy and print this to master the technique. This is simplified pranayam for everyone and you do not have to go to classes to learn. This is for life unlike short term classes where you do it in the class then stop when classes are over.
