I’m 26 weeks pregnant and I know of course heartburn is something that goes along with pregnancy but it feels like within the last week or so it has kicked into high gear. I’ve been getting it several times a day and night. I take tums to deal with it, but I’m getting a little nervous maybe I’m taking them more then I should. Is it normal to have it this much?

Some women have really bad heartburn. I was fortunate enough to not get it at all. I suggest drinking milk or eatling yogurt as opposed to all the Tums.

Try maloxx and mylanta. They are safe to take. Its on my list my doctor gave me that is safe to take while pregnant. They work longer at keeping the heartburn away.

Yes it is! With my first pregnancy I had heartburn from conception til delivery. It wound up turning into reflux toward the end and I had to sleep on the recliner so I wouldn’t gag in my sleep.
It can be annoying and feel really severe–if you are that concerned talk to your OB/GYN and they might have some remedies. But from my experience it’s a normal part of pregnancy.
Congratulations and good luck!

Yes it is normal, especially the further along you get. I had horrible heartburn my entire pregnancy. Talk to your OBGYN and see if there’s something he/she can perscribe you for heartburn that is safe during pregnancy.

if you r worried about overdoing it on the meds, try drinking a glass of milk or 2 . that might help more then the meds and its good for you

I get it too and at first I thought it was indigestion but I guess not.Lol. We’re going to have hairy babies!!!
I think it’s weird though because actually I haven’t even tested positive yet with any home pregnancy tests. Tomorrow though I’ll be at 5 weeks…no period the entire month of August. My last period was actually on July the 29th. I am going to wait another week and test again if af doesn’t show up.
On September 10th is my fiancee b-day and I think it would be cool to tell him he’s going to be a daddy on that very special day.
Wish me luck.

I had chronic heartburn with my son. I would keep Tums with me at all times and ended up getting a prescription for Pepcid the further along I got.

Unfortunately heart burn is one of the normal NON-wonderful parts of pregnancy, the hormones that cause help ur baby grow also help froduce more acid, which inturn gives u more heartburn and gas, u don’t have to worry about taking tums they are safe, but, talk to your doctor, he can prescribe a liquid ant-acid, it lasts long and will help sooth ur heartburn quicker
also try sleeping with ur pillow propped
good luck
